Cameron Kit is an award-winning feminist sci-fi and documentary filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY.
She is the Co-Director and Producer of "African Woman's Voice", a feature documentary about a young Malian journalist fighting to make women's voices heard on the radio. She is a Virginia Humanities Grant recipient for her documentary work. Her short documentary “Neeti’s Story” has won “Best Short Documentary” at 2 international film fests.
She has directed over 30 narrative short films including “Body Prison” which won “Best Short Film” and “Best Actress” at the Golden Island Film Festival and “Best Sound Design” at the PANO Shorts Showcase. Her 2021 film “Chlorine”, won “Best Underwater Cinematography” at the New York Cinematography Awards and was featured at 9 international festivals. Her films have been featured in 20 international festivals including the Tokyo International, Big Apple Film Festival, Seattle Film Festival, Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival, Richmond International Film Fest, Dumbo Film Festival, Montreal Independent Film Festival, .
She started the documentary storytelling studio YOYOS in 2023, focusing on telling emotional human stories across tech, medicine, AI, aerospace technology and sustainability.
Before that she ran Whiteboard Geeks, an animation studio based in Richmond, VA for over a decade. During that time she grew the company from four to 30 employees and generated over $3,000,000 in revenue.
Cameron received her BFA in Sculpture & Extended Media with a minor in Kinetic Imaging (video and sound design) from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. Combining her fine arts training and a decade of business experience managing, coaching and leading a team, Cameron has demonstrated her talent as a natural director during the course of her career and finds working directly with actors to be one of the most gratifying aspects of her work. She is passionate about women’s stories and projecting a positive Solarpunk vision of the future. Her goal is to create stories that empower women and marginalized folks to create the future they want.
